ASI Community Forum - Rules & General Information

Please read all of the following very carefully!
Posts or topics which break these rules may be closed or removed without warning!

First and foremost, make sure to read all of this board's rules before posting! Questions are often asked on the forums because the rules are not read and people are not sure where a post should be placed. ALL of the board's rules can be found in the Forum Rules and Regulations area . Rules specific to a forum can also be found at the top of that forum.

It is also a good idea to look through the Important (pinned) Topics at the top of EVERY forum before posting. These topics contain information answering a wide variety of common questions.

Forum Terms & Rules

Please take a moment to review these rules detailed below. Please be aware that continued membership of these forums is subject to the following.
  • Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.
  • The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.
  • When you post here, your posts are then deemed to be in the public domain. Our standard policy is not to delete users posts unless we deem it necessary due to objectionable material. This includes when you are banned or if you no longer wish to use ASI. Your posts will remain after you are gone. You do not have a choice in this matter, so please think carefully before you post as it will remain on ASI permanently.
  • You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post ( or link to ) any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.
  • You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this bulletin board.
  • You agree to create a single account for your own personal and private use. We have the ability to edit your account in any way you wish, should it be deemed appropriate. Creating a duplicate account, or sharing passwords with another user is strictly forbidden, any users caught doing so will be instantly banned from the site.

General Information

Off Topic Chat:
We would ask all members to try and keep posts on topic, and to keep with the subject of the thread they are posted in. Posts that are judged to be too far off topic may be removed or closed without prior warning.

Do not argue with the moderators/admin staff:
Arguing with the moderators or admin staff will most likely end up with you getting a warning (or worse, it depends). Any topic complaining about a deleted topic or anything like that will be deleted and you will get a warning. Bear in mind that this is a privately owned website and your use of it is a privilage and not a right. Also bear in mind that the admins are also the owners.

Avatars and Signatures:
To change them, go to "My Controls" near the top-right corner of the page. Remember to read over the rules regarding avatar and signature sizes.

Use the "PM" system:
If you need to talk to any single person, use the PM System instead of making a new topic. Personal topics will most likely get deleted. Also use the PM system to send other users personal details if you wish. It is inadvisable to post personal details on a forum with public access.

Reporting Spam:
Each post contains a "Report" button . You can use it to report a post if you think it contains violations to one or more of the board's rules. Your report will be sent to a list where all moderators can view them. A moderator will decide whether to take action upon the reported post.

If you are reporting a duplicate topic or something similar, it is useful to provide a link to the original in your report for the moderators.

Post Counts and Ranks:
Every user has a "rank" starting off with "New recruit" and rising to "Senior Member" These ranks are based on the individual post count of the user. As your post count rises you will be promoted to a higher rank. The rank system is also indicated by "pips" which are again based on post count, and will increase as your post count increases.
Users abusing posting rights in order to increase their rank/post count will be reprimanded and/or warned.

Editing Posts:
Every post created by a member contains an "Edit" button . When creating a post, if you make a mistake or notice that you forgot to add some information, use this button to edit your post and add/change the information instead of creating an entirely new post. The edit function is available for 20 minutes after the original post has been made for all forums except the classifieds area where a post can be edited at any time.

Warn System:
The warn system is primarily used by the global moderators and admin staff, they can warn users if a major offense ahs been made. This allows other users to see what the user has done so that they can act accordingly in the future. Moderators/Admins can also disable posting for a user for a certain time period to, for example, allow the user to cool down. You can get more than one warn a day and excessive breaking of the rules can lead to your being banned, so follow the rules.
If you have been given a warning, a bar will be displayed, Warn:(60%) with your current warn level on it. This will be shown in the "user information" area in posts, as well as appearing on your profile. Once the level reaches 100% a complete ban will be issued to the user.

Administrators and Moderators:
There have been some posts asking who we are. While looking at the main forum, there is a link near the bottom (The moderating team) which shows a list of the board staff, their positions, and what forums on this board that they moderate.

HTML in Posts/Signatures:
Standard HTML tags cannot be used on this board. Bulletin Boards use BB Codes, which serve the same purpose. A list of usable BB Codes can be found under the Clickable Smilies when creating a post. A guide to BB Code can be found here

Avatars/signatures/personal photos
All members are welcome to personalise their ASI account with the use of the above. Avatar sizes are limited to 120x120 pixels and 50kb in size. Personal photos (profile picture) are limited to 150x150 pixels and 100kb in size.
Signatures do not have a limit on their size, however, if a signature is deemed to draw attention away from the main post through the use of overly formatted text or images it will be removed/resized.

The Calendar:
The calendar displays various kinds of useful information. The primary purpose of which is to inform users when a particular airsoft event is scheduled to take place, be it a normal walk on or a special event such as a social outing. Only admin staff and skirmish site owners can add events to the calendar. Please contact the staff if you wish to have a particular event added
